thoughts, and anything else that pops into my head.

About Me
I’ve always leaned towards the creative side of my brain. My love for relationships, people and the ability to make conversation with just about anyone stems from a little boy working in a family run business to an adult working for a multinational global IT company for 15 years. I’m a compassionate individual who is forever looking to develop both mentally and physically. My resilience and commitment to staying humble have shaped who I am today. Recently, I’ve been struck by the realisation that time is the one commodity we can’t buy back. With that in mind, and a new sense of urgency, I fully intend to make the most of it.
My Experiance
Foxwarm
After accepting voluntary redundancy from Amadeus, I decided to take the opportunity to try something different and dipped my toe into self-employment. I tested an idea I had to provide energy surveys on a consultancy basis. I completed a Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) course with Energy Trust UK and trialled the service in my local community. I quickly discovered that the demand wasn’t there and it wasn’t a viable path to maintain cash flow. I’m still passionate about energy-saving measures and keep up to date with news on retrofitting and Passive House. I aspire to live in a Passive House property one day.
While working on a project at a family member’s property, I decided to explore carpentry as a possible career path. I undertook three courses at The Builder Training Centre and worked with what I can only describe as the best kitchen fitter ever to walk this land. In the end, I found the building dust and physical demands were more than I had expected, and I chose not to pursue it as a career. Do I regret it? Absolutely not! I had the heart to try, and I took the chance to do something I would have regretted not attempting later in life.
See what I achieved here.
Lessons Learned: Don’t be afraid to try something new and fail fast. It’s an effective concept from Agile Project Management.

Amadeus IT Services UK LTD
I worked at Amadeus for 15 years. The company is a giant in the airline and travel IT industry. Now that you know of it, you may notice the name when booking flights online. I started in August 2008 as an IT Desktop Support Engineer. At that point, the IT infrastructure was managed in-house at the local site in Heathrow. I loved how diverse the role was and really enjoyed meeting great customers, plus the dopamine hit from fixing things was addictive (still is). I worked in a core team of five, and we still meet up at least once a month to this day. My energy was put to good use handling service desk tickets, managing mobile devices, setting up new starters, desk moves, and many other tasks. That experience allowed me to form meaningful connections both professionally and personally.
In 2011, I moved into a new role where I implemented RSA multi-factor authentication across various sites and managed the infrastructure. I worked closely with the vendors and the IT Project Manager to ensure a smooth implementation of RSA SecurID. This led to a promotion to 3rd Line Support for infrastructure. The role gave me the opportunity to travel frequently to Germany, Nice, and once to Istanbul, Turkey. I jumped into the role without any formal training and showed resilience when it counted. The pressure was intense at times, but it only heightened my focus and I thrived in those situations.
In 2016, there was a large reorganisation, and by this point, the IT infrastructure had either been or was in the process of being centralised. I joined a remote Implementation team based in Nice, France. I developed proof of concepts, created documentation, and implemented systems according to business needs. The role required me to work alone, mostly confined to my laptop, with minimal human interaction as it was largely technical. The lack of social contact and the physical distance from the team in France made the role unsuitable for me, and eventually, I moved to another team where I was a better fit.
My final role at Amadeus was extremely fun and rewarding. I worked with a wonderful team based in Bangkok, Thailand. We were tasked with migrating all users from VMware to Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD). Amadeus started a partnership with Microsoft, and AVD was included in the package. The switch from VMware to AVD would save Amadeus thousands of dollars. The team was small, starting with just two of us, and expanding to four shortly before I left. The team and leadership pulled together to create an environment where no one wanted to let each other down. The best part was that we organically created a no-blame culture. Naturally, mistakes happen, but no one pointed fingers, only solutions and process reviews were prioritised to prevent repeat issues. I was happy to wake up at 4 a.m. (often did) to connect with the team because I wanted to contribute and get the job done. The migration was delivered as part of a project, and it helped that we had an excellent Project Manager. Management at all levels was exceptional, and the positive energy clearly trickled down to every team member.
Throughout all of this, I remained seated next to the same three colleagues from my original role in 2008, including the person who first recruited me. We worked in different teams, but remain close friends to this day. I eventually left Amadeus in July 2023. My role still existed; however, the on-call service was to be removed from my contract, which affected my salary. As a result, Amadeus offered voluntary redundancy — which I accepted.

Adult Evening Acting Beginners Course
Probably my favourite course ever. I didn’t know what to expect, as I enrolled purely for fun, but it turned out to be one of the most insightful courses I’ll ever attend. I walked away having learned a great deal about myself, and I suspect the others who attended did too. Brilliant and highly recommended.

Carpentry Intermediate, Advanced and Kitchen Fitting.
I’ve wanted to try carpentry for as long as I can remember, or perhaps since I became obsessed with The New Yankee Workshop on Discovery. The course lasted a total of 13 working days and was a lot of fun. The staff were excellent.
Fitness & Health
How serious am I about my health?
More now than ever. I was very much into fitness in my twenties, but after a shoulder injury, I took roughly three to four years off exercising. It wasn’t easy mentally, but I realised I had started using the injury as an excuse. I decided to change tactics and, instead of resting the shoulder, began doing weight training with it. Lo and behold, it worked. Now I’m back on a mission. Here are three areas I’m focusing on over the next ten years.
Swimming
I first had swimming lessons in my early thirties, and that was after completing Tough Mudder. That’s a story for another time. To kick my brain into gear, I’ve signed up for a Super Sprint Triathlon and started lessons again in January 2025.
Mobility Training
I’ve discovered that I have an imbalance in my body. I’m going to take on the challenge of following mobility training from ATG. My aim is to strengthen the muscles that will help improve my mobility. I’ll post more information about the routine in the near future.
Legs
Calves, to be more specific. I’m on a mission to strengthen my legs. They’ve been a weak point throughout my life, and now it’s time to put that right. Besides, I need them to carry me through the second phase of my life.
